Annie Ella Campbell Luke was born on Friday, August 16, 1940 in Starkville, MS the tenth of twelve children born to Eddie and Allee Pearson Campbell. Annie was educated in Starkville, Mississippi. Her career was with the United States Postal Service. Annie confessed faith in Christ and was baptized at New Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Starkville, MS. She constantly spoke of how she was spiritually guided by her mother Allee Campbell and her Grandmother Hattie Rodgers. Annie joined the Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood, IL under the pastorage of the late Reverend T.H. Wade, and continued her membership under the pastorage of Reverend Marvin E. Wiley. Annie's life was filled with love and generosity toward others. She was a treasure, a true jewel that many looked up to and admired. Annie and Philip Luke enjoyed a year-long engagement and united in holy matrimony on December 21, 1985, and faithfully shared 37 wonderful years together. On Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the age of 81 years, Annie made her transition. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Eddie Jr., Sammie, Pearson, Tommie, James and her sisters: Annie Louise, Wilhelmenia, and Geraldine; and her great-granddaughter Myreyah Merritt. Annie leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband Philip; her children Kevin Campbell, Tanya Campbell, Rodney (DeLolita) Campbell, John Williams, and Kenya McClain; her grandchildren: Jonte' Sr. (Ericka), Rodney Jr. (Charlene), Andrew, Diante, Walter, Sharque, Teshaun, Rodney, Sherita, Gabriella, Maurice, Kailee Anna, Chelsea, Felandis, and Briana; her great-grandchildren: Jimmy, Ja'Niyah, Jaida, Jonte' Jr., Benjamin, Brandon, Jared, Alexa, Giana, Malani, Shanese, and Maliyah; her sisters; Shirley (Tommie) Hampton, Hattie (Freddie M) Rieves, Barbara (Charles) Miller, her sister-in-law: Rachel Campbell; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Annie has gone to receive her crown in glory… she will forever stay in the hearts of her family!
Visitation Thursday, from 10:00 am until time of service 11:00am at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads, Hillside/Westchester. Interment Oakridge Cemetery.
