Calvin Earl Sykes was born November 22, 1983 in Maywood, Illinois, to Robert and Mazell Sykes; the middle child of three children. At the tender age of seven, he was baptized at the New Landmark Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Joseph Sylvester. Calvin attended Proviso East High School.

Calvin was a kind-hearted, generous man; he'd give you the shirt off his back without questioning, without judgment. He was a person with great imagination and creativity with a genuine appreciation for detail. He had this unique presence that brought joy and laughter to everyone he touched. He left a legacy of unconditional love. He will be sorely missed.

Calvin departed this earthly life on Friday, November 4, 2021. He is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Robert and Mazell Sykes; his brother Michael Elam, and sister Robyn Sykes; three aunts Linda (Stoney) Gillespie of Hoover, AL., Dorothy Elam and Agnes (Leon) Richardson, both from Chicago, IL. ; One uncle Maurice Sykes; nine nephews and nieces; girlfriend I'lana McDonald and many other relatives and friends.
