Obituary

Carol Mable Popple, 99, born September 17, 1926 to Murray and Amanda (Beth) Popple in Des Plaines and named after her two grandmothers, at rest October 29, 2025.

Late of Glen Ellyn, she formerly lived in Hanover Park and Oak Park.

Carol was the younger sister to the late Phyllis Popple and "Big Sister" to Charlene (late Richard) Dolnics, Charles (late Chong Cha) Popple and fond aunt to Karen and David (Lisa) Dolnics.

Growing up in the Depression era and World War II years. She attended two different grade schools and two high schools in her freshman year before the family moved to Chicago and she graduated from Austin High School with the class of 1944.

Carol secured a job as a secretary with a Chicago Company and remained their valued employee for 47 years, retiring in 1991.

As younger women, she and her sister Phyllis owned horses stabled in nearby Chicago suburbs enjoying weekedn rides on forest preserve bridle paths.

A lakefront cottage in Michigan provided a summer retreat for 50 years. Family and friends were always welcomed for visits.

Always an outdoor-type of gal, she enjoyed fishing, including digging for worms, boating, swimmimg, mowing the lawn, picking fruits and veggies, fish fry dinners, evening campfires, home repair jobs, card games, casino visits, bowling and golf.

Pet dogs and cats were a big part of Carol's life over the years, too. She had a quiet, pleasant personality, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Caring daughter, niece, cousin, neighbor and friend to many. Her cremains will be interred near her family members at a graveside gathering.

Memorial donations to animal shelters or humane societies would be appreciated.
