Corazon graduated from the Chinese General Hospital College with a degree in nursing. In 1961, she married Bienvenido, and together they emigrated from the Philippines, eventually settling in Chicago, Illinois. Corazon gave birth to her son, John Christopher, in 1966, and her daughter, Joyce Frances, in 1968, both at Mother Cabrini Hospital in Chicago.
Corazon's life was marked by her deep commitment to caring for others, not only in her professional life but also within her family. As a dedicated nurse and nurse supervisor at Mother Cabrini Hospital for 34 years, she was known for mentoring and precepting countless nurses, sharing the wisdom and experience she gained over the years. Beyond her career, she extended her nurturing spirit to her family, always ensuring that her loved ones were supported and cared for. Whether it was providing guidance, prayers, financial help, or simply being a listening ear, Corazon was the cornerstone of her family, friends and colleagues whom she helped in various ways throughout their lives.
After retiring in 1994, Corazon faced the profound loss of her husband Bienvenido, who passed away from lung cancer that same year. In 2002, she remarried Rodel F. Diezmo, with whom she shared her later years. Even in retirement, Corazon continued to be a pillar of strength and support for her family, always putting their needs above her own.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, Illinois 60612. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Divine Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 1601 Newcastle Avenue, Westchester, Illinois 60154. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
