Dan was born on November 14, 1945, to the late Homer and Ramona D. Ashcraft of Terre Haute, Indiana. He was the second child, and he was affectionately called Danny by his mother.

Dan confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Church of Christ in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Dan met Bettye Harris in 1975 which was the love of his life and married on February 7, 1977. During this union they raised four children.

He later became a lifelong member of Brookfield Church of Christ in Brookfield, Illinois. He served over fifty years as a faithful member. He loved his church family and Pastor Berry. Dan was a pillar in his church community.

Dan's favorite saying was "If I can help somebody as I pass along the way, my living shall not be in vain." He had a deep passion for helping others.

His memories will be cherished by Bettye Ashcraft and his three children, Andre (Angel) Harris, Atrice N. (Tony) Stewart, and Tajohanae E. Ashcraft; preceded in death his son Shannon "Grizzle" Ashcraft.

Visitation Tuesday, July 18, 2023 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads, Hillside/Westchester. Interment Oakridge Cemetery
