Obituary


Deauma Clemons was born on March 30, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois, to Louis Clemons II and Brenda Clemons-Olawumi.

Deauma attended Near North Montessori in Chicago, IL, Nerge Elementary School Roselle, IL, Robert Frost Junior High School and James B. Conant High School in Hoffman Estates where she obtained her High School diploma. After graduating high school, she attended Alcorn State University, Southern University A&M and eventually obtained her degree in Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Kansas University.

Deauma attended Willow Creek Community Church where she was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. She was taking classes before becoming ill at Willow Creek Community Church to become certified to start a children’s ministry. She also coached youth basketball at various clubs over the years.

Deauma worked at Kansas University Med in the HR department and with the city of Lawerence in the claims department for several years before returning home to Chicago and worked various jobs.

Deauma loved playing basketball as well as coaching/teaching young people to play basketball. She also loved to travel, attend house music festivals annually and play golf. She had a passion for riding motorcycles, which she learned from her mother. She always thought she was the oldest of the siblings by giving everybody advice.

Deauma was preceded in death by her father, Louis Clemons II; bonus mother; Doris Franklin grandparents, Howard and Matilda Tillman and Louis Clemmons I and Ruby Mooney Clemmons; sister, Marshall Clemons; niece, Diane Taylor

Deauma gained her wings on March 13, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, her parents, Brenda (Thomas Sr.) Clemons-Olawumi; bonus mother, Darlene Olawumi(d. March 22, 2026); 10 siblings, Diane Olawumi, Mary Dawn(Earl) Stoxstell, Mark Clemons, Syrena Olawumi, Reggie (Lisa)Tillman, Thomas Olawumi Jr., Nakia “Nick” Olawumi, Kyonni Olawumi, Louis Clemons and Olumiji (Jordyn) Olawumi; special friends, from Chicago, Kansas University/Kansas, and Alcorn State University; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles family and friends.

Visitation Friday, March 27, 2026 from 3-8pm and Saturday from 12:30 pm until time of service 1:30 pm at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads in Hillside, IL. Interment Glen Oak Cemetery.
