Obituary

Debra Delores Gordon was born on April 19, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois to Joe Lee Gordon Sr. and Mamie Delores Gordon. She was one of eight children. Debra attended Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Elementary school in Chicago, Illinois until fourth grade, and the remaining elementary years at St Eulalia Parish in Maywood, Illinois. She continued her education at Proviso East High School, from there she went and graduated from Triton Jr. College and Dominican University where she earn a degree in Child Care. As a child Debra received Christ at an early age. As she grew older she ventured out and joined Living Word Christian Center. Debra felt the calling in her heart that God was calling her to teach his word. Debra was ordained and co-pastor along beside her husband Pastor Howard Richmond. Pastor Debra deeply loved the Lord, she would spend hours in reading and studying scriptures and writing sermons. Pastor Debra always found time to be a prayer partner to anyone that needed one. Debra had a gift working with children she began her career working for the Oak Park school district. She later opened her own facility "Home Sweet Home Daycare ". She moved to Naperville where she worked at DuPage Montessori School until she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

During her spare time, she loved being in God Word, spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holiday season. She loved old school and Christian music, watching movies, HGTV, decorating, cooking, and shopping. It was not until July 23, 2020, that God the Father called his daughter Debra home. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Mamie Gordon and youngest brother Ronnie Gordon. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Pastor Howard Richmond, five step children, Rev. Dr. Aaron B. Wade, Howard Wade, Tiffany Grandpre, Crystal Collin, and Gloria Clark. Five sisters ; Diane Curtis( Osborn) , Barbara Upchurch ( Walter), Bettie Massie (Walter), Patricia Emmons, and Monica Gordon ; one brother Joe Lee Gordon Jr. Debra had many nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart, Quadronna Lester, Tynisa Gordon Adams ( Derrick), Osborn Curtis II ( Jackie), Derrick Upchurch (Lenikka), Tyrus Clark, Tamika Foster(Anthony), Gregory Emmons, Jr.( Kelly) Terrance Upchurch, Miranda Gordon, Marcus Gordon, Tiòna Clark, and Joseph Gordon III , Kelly Vaughn, Kerri Cooper, Two aunts Fannie Gordon, Mamie Parker, sister-in-law Twanna Gordon; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, and all the children's lives that she touched throughout her years of child care. All who loved her dearly.

Visitation Friday, July 31, 2020 11:00 am until time of service 12:00 pm at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Rds, Hillside/ Westchester, IL. Interment Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
