Deacon Dismas G. Fernandez (aka "Didi") passed away on October 18, 2021, at the age of 80, in Chicago, Illinois.  Didi, a graduate of DePaul University, dedicated the past 29 years of his life serving the Archdiocese of Chicago, until his health began to fail. Illinois. In his prior career, he was an accountant, working for many Chicago area companies. He was ordained a deacon in 1992 and in that role worked on baptismal preparation, marriages, wakes, funerals, preaching, ministry of care, immigration advocacy, and immigrant detainee visitation. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann D. Jurgus, many cousins, nephews, nieces, and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Hedwig (nee Noys), and his brothers, Arthur, Gregory, Anthony, John, George, and baby, Marcus.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community members.

Visitations will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Family Parish (Notre Dame Church) in Chicago, located at 1334 W. Flournoy Street , on Saturday, October 23, at 12:30 p.m., immediately followed by a liturgical service at 1:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois on Monday, October 25, at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Info: 800-562-00820
