Donald B
Moore
May 15, 1959 – June 25, 2024
Donald Bryan Moore, "Don", 65, of Mooresville, N.C. and formerly of Buffalo Grove, IL, passed away comfortably on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2023 and liver cancer in 2024. He was born on May 15, 1959, in Chicago, IL, the son of Jack and Gloria Moore.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Don was one of five boys growing up in the Chicago area and an avid Cubs fan. He attended Proviso West High School and Triton College. His studies included CAD design and mechanical/electrical engineering.
He worked for Toyoda Machinery when he met Angie. They married on June 29, 1991, and instantly became a family of five.
Don used his skills towards his creative hobbies of woodworking, carving, and landscaping to produce works of beauty. If you have been fortunate enough to receive any of these gifts, you know what a treasure they are.
His love for food was only matched by his joy in sharing it with others. Catering unforgettable parties and events for family and friends throughout many years brought him tremendous pleasure.
A big kid at heart, and not having any kids of his own, his grandchildren were his greatest source of happiness. He found his ultimate playmates in each of his five grandkids, always showing curiosity towards their interests and ready to share his passions. Being able to spoil them with toys, treats, love, and support them in each of their endeavors brought him the greatest joy of all.
He is survived by his dedicated wife, Angie Moore, and his three step-daughters Vicki Gleeson (Todd), Laura Rieger, and Christine Simrell (Roy), his grandchildren, Ivy & Austin Gleeson, Tyler Rieger, and Connor & Megan Simrell.
Don also leaves behind his brothers: Jim(Karen)& Ken Wellhausen, Bob(Patti) & Greg(Karen) Moore, nieces and nephews, Jamie, Jimbo, Jackie, Jennifer, Lindy, Pam, Robert Charles, Kristal, David, their respective spouses, and several great nieces & nephews.
While we all will miss Don and who he was to each of us, it may be his precious doggie daughter, Preslie who will miss him the most.
Visitation and Service will be held from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Hursen Funeral Home & Cremetory, 4001 Roosevelt Rd, Hillside, Il. Interment will immediately follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
