Dorothy Mae Bates, Dupree, age 91 of Hillside, Illinois. was born in Brownsville, Tenn, to Ruby and Louie Dupree. She met and married William Bates. They started a family. After the first two kids were born, they moved to Illinois and had 4 more. She spent much of her time taking care of her family.

Mother of Mary (Salomon) Bonilla, James (Late Judy) Bates, Jennifer Bates, the late Sheila Bates, late Alvin Bates and the late Dorothy Johnson. Sister to the late Alvin Dupree, late Arthur (Barbara) Dupree, late Lesly (late Denise) Dupree, Nancy (Charles) Oliver, and Betty (late Gerald) Snyder. She was a loving grandmother of 15, great grandmother; great great-grandmother; great great great-grandmother of many.

Everyone was welcome at her kitchen table for good food, lots of laughter, and country music.

She was a collector of Barbie and Porcelain Dolls. She loved the holidays that brought her family together, but Christmas was her favorite. She loved to watch the rodeo shows on TV and going to Santa's Village amusement park where she rode the old cars and the Cinderella pumpkin ride. She enjoyed going shopping with Mary Bogus and Annie Schaible.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation Friday, September 19, 2025, 11:00 a.m. until time of service 1:00 p.m. at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads, Hillside/Westchester  Interment Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst.
