Obituary

Erica Briana Carter was born on August 2, 2000, to the parents of Debra Alexander- Carter and Eric Brian in La Grange, IL the second of two children. Her sister Kateshia preceded her in death.

Erica accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Neighborhood United Methodist Church in Maywood, IL.

Erica's formal education began in Bolingbrook, IL where she attended Independence Elementary School and later Jane Adams Middle School. The family moved to Villa Park where she completed Jefferson Middle School and later attended and graduated from Willowbrook High School in Villa Park where she met her first love Travis Gillespie. They were blessed with a daughter Erin, who she described as her clone. Erica completed her educational requirements for High School, 6 weeks after giving birth to Erin. She sat out her senior year, while focusing on Motherhood and her future. Erica was a dedicated employee at United Parcel Service for 3 years before she decided to achieve a lifelong dream of becoming a beautician and enrolled and completed Empire Beauty School in October 2024. She was able to maintain a great deal in her short lifespan, full time mother, licensed beautician, and Package handler at UPS. She was a dedicated mom, loving daughter, and very outspoken with her brothers.

Erica passed away suddenly from an Acute Asthma attack on May 29, 2025, in the emergency room at Elmhurst Hospital at 11:48 p.m.

Erica leaves to celebrate her memories: Her beloved daughter Erin; her parents Debra and Eric Carter of Villa Park, IL; 4 brothers Tavoriss (Natasha) Robinson of Cleveland, Ohio, Brian Carter of Chicago, IL, Cortez James of Chicago, IL and Evan Carter of Villa Park, IL; One sister LaShay Cozart of Griffith, Indiana; three uncles Richard Alexander of Homewood, Illinois, Ronald Jones of Louisville, Kentucky and Michael (Fanya) Dozier of Tampa, Florida; three nephews Amare, Elijah and Roman; four nieces Alyssia, Naje, Nya and Suelina; one great nephew Kaden; and a host of relatives and many, many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 14, 2025 from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm at Journey Church, 800 S Rohlwing Road, Unit C, Addison, IL 60101.
