Erlinda E. Oyos, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 5, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1961 in Naga City, Philippines to Gus and Naty (Bordonada) Esmenda.

Her family immigrated to Chicago in 1973. She graduated from Whitney Young High School, and later from Loyola University with a degree in Business Administration. For over 31 years, she worked at LaSalle Bank, N.A., now Bank of America, in multiple assignments, including trust operations management, project management, audit and compliance, and risk and control. Erlinda was always committed to any role that she held. Her most recent position was as a Vice President and Senior Business Control Specialist in Global Operations for Bank of America.

Traveling was by far Erlinda's favorite pastime. She visited numerous European countries, South America, and countless cities throughout the United States. Sadly, her wish to return to the Philippines and travel throughout Asia was not completed on her bucket list.

She married her high school sweetheart, Allan Oyos, on August 10, 1985. Throughout their 36 years of marriage, their greatest source of mutual joy was their daughter, Jacqueline "Jackie." They often traveled as a family to any and all kid-friendly destinations when Jackie was a young child. Since Allan was not naturally a fan of traveling, as soon as Jackie was old enough Erlinda made sure to plan trips and adventures that she and Jackie could experience together. Her family was everything to her and she always told Allan and Jackie "I love you" whenever she said goodbye to them in person or on the phone.

Erlinda was also the matriarch and linchpin of her extended family. She expressed her love to the people dear to her through her actions and unfailing generosity. Her siblings and their families will be forever grateful for everything that she did for them.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Allan, and cherished daughter, Jackie; siblings, Engracio "Jun" (Michelle) Esmenda, Jr. and daughters, Isabella and Gabriella, Este (Luther) Tucker and sons, Jared and Nathan, and Edwin Esmenda and daughter, Brittanie White; family friend, Patti Nakashima; a host of in-laws; friends and colleagues; and fur grandkids, Jack and Muzzy. Erlinda was preceded in death by her parents and fur companion, Sadie Lynn.

Viewing and visitation are on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4001 W. Roosevelt Rd., Hillside, IL 60162 at the SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads.
