Fannie Inell Ross, 86, passed away peacefully on January 13 th surrounded by her loving family at her side. A longtime resident of the west side of Chicago and Oak Park, Illinois, she was the beloved wife of the late Jesse B. Ross, Sr. for 40 years.
Fannie Inell Ross, was born on October 18, 1934 in Cruger, Mississippi to Tealie and Fannie Smith, the 7 th of 11 children. She attended Milestone Vocational High School where she played basketball. After marrying Jesse on September 9, 1961, she moved to Chicago where she worked for Zenith Electronics and later retired from the Chicago Transit Authority as a Bus Operator after more than 17 years.
Fannie Inell Ross, professed her faith in Christ at an early age and attended Garden Chapel M.B. Church and Zion City M.B. Church in Tchula, Mississippi. She was an active and de voted choir member, usher, and member of the Mothers' Board of Refreshing Spring Baptist Church where she was frequently called upon to lead solos and to cook for special services sponsored by the church. Her hands and heart was always open to serving others. Delicious meals and baked goods, especially Turkey & Dressing, Peach Cobbler, and German Chocolate Cakes, were always available for family and friends on Sundays and holidays in Oar Park.
Fannie Inell Ross, will be forever cherished and held in the hearts of her loving family; children: Earnest "Larry" (Gail), Warren G., Jesse "Pete" (Diane), Elberta "Dean", Fannie Yvette (Patrick), Anthony "Lamont," and Aretha; 1 Sister: Mable Durham (Louis); 2 Sisters-In-Law: Mary Wesley & Agnes Smith; 14 grandchildren;13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
