Obituary

Gary S. Sevik, embarked on his final adventure on May 13, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on February 23,1957 in Berwyn, Illinois. He passed away in McHenry, Illinois at his home looking forward to summer and his new retired freedom.

Gary was the beloved husband of Janet (nee Johnson) for the past 37 years, and confidant to his children, Rachel (Chad) Rowcliff and Brian Sevik. They inherited his innate kindness and his gift for using humor to navigate life- through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

He was the loving son of Thomas and Evalyn Sevik, fond brother of Randall Sevik, with whom he shared a strong familial bond rooted in deep catholic faith.

Gary was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved watching his favorite Chicago sports teams every season, and remained a loyal fan even through the heartbreak Chicago teams are known for. Although, his favorite games were any he watched alongside his son, Brian. Together, they also treasured their yearly tradition of playing catch in the backyard on Father's Day. He could never have enough pizza, for which he once said he could eat everyday of the week. He enjoyed having a drink with friends at a Cubs game or bar, and categorizing and creating music playlists, to share his passion for music with the world. He and his daughter, Rachel shared a special bond through their mutual love of music. When they would each discover new music they enjoyed, they couldn't wait to send it to one another for review. He always looked forward to hearing his favorite local bands live, and discovering new artists to add to his ever-growing collection.

Gary just recently retired from the United States Postal service with over 46 years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic and knowledge. He made many meaningful friendships there throughout his career.

Through hard work and unwavering determination, Gary built a beautiful life- one anyone would be proud of. He was selfless, always putting his family first without hesitation. A truly devoted husband to Janet, he cared for her deeply. He loved his children dearly, and visibly beamed with pride in watching and celebrating their successes in life. Gary was a one-of-a-kind soul whose presence made the world a better place.

He will be truly missed ♥️
