Jacqueline Dourlet
Drew
October 25, 2023
Jacqueline Dourlet Drew, 61, of Clarendon Hills, Illinois died on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at home. She passed while in the loving and calming presence of her husband Dan, and their six children, blessed with the comfort of spending her final days in her long-time home. Jacquie battled for several years against a rare form of lung cancer with unwavering strength and dignity. She carried herself through life with a positive outlook, lending unquestioned empathy and love to all who were lucky enough to know her.
Jacquie entered this world on December 20, 1961, the second child of Margaret and Leon Dourlet. She spent her entire life caring for family and serving her church and community. First and foremost, Jacquie was a devoted mother and mentor with a keen sense of humanity and provided support to friends and family in need. She had an immeasurably positive view of life and a very kind heart. Jacquie was strong and independent while fiercely loyal. She found joy in interactions with others. Her simple presence was a gift.
Married to Daniel Drew on October 5, 1991, in Chicago, she was a spectacular mother and caregiver. Her example as a spouse and mother forms the foundation and inspiration for successful family life for all her children.
Jacquie attended Southern Illinois University and Michigan State University for graduate school, built a career in hospital administration, and rose to upper management before choosing to leave full time work for full time motherhood. She later returned to work at Northwestern and finished her career at the Joint Commission. She was an active member of Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church at its renewal in the 1980's and later introduced her children and friends to the church. She was most recently active in community outreach and the Foundations Youth Group. Jacquie was energized by an active lifestyle spent outdoors biking, running, and practicing yoga. Some of her best support of others was given on long walks around Prospect Park, Fullersburg Woods and in her beloved Door County. As she fought cancer, she found meaningful community and activity at the Hinsdale Wellness House. Her legacy is still being written as all the people she influenced will no doubt carry her spirit forward.
Jacquie is survived by her husband Dan, her children Brennan (Lisa), Connor (Ruth), Patrick, Maura, Emmett, and Evan, along with five siblings Theresa (William) Schlender, Charles (Katherine) Dourlet, Suzanne (John) Molchin, Leona (Theodore) Glotzbach, and Roger (Jill) Dourlet, loving in-laws, large extended family, and untold friends and acquaintances.
