Larry Milton Washington, Sr. was born November 23, 1950, in Chicago, IL from the union of Emmette and Cleo Marie Washington. Larry went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2021, at the age of 70 at his home in Berkeley, IL.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; Emmette and Cleo Washington, his siblings; Emmett., Jr., Melvyn, Delores, James Henry, Kenneth, and Margaret.
He attended Gillespie Elementary School and Harlan High School in Chicago, IL. He was on the football, basketball, and track teams. He was a member of the 1969 State Championship Track Team.
Larry went into the United States Army on July 9, 1971, andreceived an honorable discharge on May 6, 1972. Then in March of 1973 he met his future wife, LaRita Green. Then on November 17th of that same year they were united in holy matrimony. From that union were born five children: Larry, Jr., Derrick, Daryl, Gabrielle, and Danielle.
Before his retirement in 2017 Larry was employed by R.R. Donnelly & Sons (Security Officer), Chicago, IL; Hines VA Hospital (Security Officer), Hines, IL; and GATX Logistics (Quality Control Supervisor), Hodgkins, IL
Larry became a member of God's House of Brotherly Love in June of 1982 under the leadership of the late Bishop Howard Owen Abbey. He served faithfully as a member of the Deacons Board and a member of the Adult Choir. Larry was lovingly known as being a father figure to children in the congregation. He was given the name "Father Abraham". After the passing of Bishop Abbey, he became a member of New Kingdom Christian Center Church under the leadership of Pastor Victor Walker. He was the Superintendent of the Sunday School Department and the Adult Sunday School Class teacher. He was ordained an Elder in 2003 and ordained a Pastor in January of 2010. He loved sharing the Word of God and helping people get a clearer understanding of the Word. He enjoyed sharing the Word and teaching others to love the Word just as much as he did. Larry lived up to his name as "Father
Abraham" when his family embraced Brianna Randle into their already large family. He and his wife opened their home to her, and she became the sixth child in the Washington Family. In April of 2018 Larry and his family joined and became members of Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral under the leadership of Apostle Donald L. Alford, Sr. He worked as one of the Sunday School teachers for the Adult Men's class. He filled in wherever he was needed. He was a faithful servant unto the Lord in all the ministries that he was under.
He leaves to praise and rejoice with him in his homegoing his wife LaRita, his brother Donald Washington(Chicago, IL), his children; Larry, Jr.(Karen)(Chicago, IL); Derrick (Catherine),(Zion, IL); Daryl,(Berkeley, IL); Gabrielle,(Woodridge IL,); Danielle (Anthony Sr.),(Berkeley, IL); Briana (Carol Stream, IL); his grandchildren; Devante, Lorenzo (Pashun), Brejuana, LaKyra, Kailah, Kaylah, Derrick Julius, Anthony Jr., Arianna, Kennedy, Aiden, Elisha; great grandson; Noah and daughter in love Deandrea Ray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
