Obituary

Leon Alle n was born on Monday, February 21, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Grace Feazell and Leroy Allen. Leon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and baptized by Reverend August Minor at Union Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir. His family later moved to Maywood, IL, where he attended and graduated from Irving Elementary in 1971 and attended Proviso East High School. As a young man Leon loved to hunt and fish with his dad. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Leon was always reliable and supported of his family, church, and friends. Leon met Yvonne Gage, they later married and were united in holy matrimony on August 1, 1981 at St. Catherine of Siena – St. Lucy Catholic Church in Oak Park, IL. by Father Raymond Cusack. Leon began his working career at Dominick's Finer Foods. After leaving Dominick's he moved to Memphis, TN. to care after his mother. There, he continued his career at Federal Express for several years, until the passing of his mother. Leon later returned to Chicago, Illinois. After various jobs, he began working for himself in carpentry, landscaping, handyman work and painting. He was very meticulous, and his painting was exceptional. He was always willing to help family, friends, and anyone in need with a huge heart and smile. Leon also assisted Pastor Ricky Harris with maintaining Alpha & Omega Church, where he became a loyal patron of the church. Leon was a gentleman, with a humble spirit, well dressed, and had an infectious laugh and smile that would light up the room.  He loved to listen to music; he loved to dance and was a smooth "stepper", a Fred Astaire of his time. Later, Leon met his partner, Ernestine Gray, which they were together until his untimely death.

Leon Allen made his transition from this life on October 19, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Lenmion Tyler of Kenosha, WI; Three grandchildren: Jhelen Tyler, Jasmine Tyler and Jane Tyler; Four great grandchildren: Brooklyn Tyler, Paris Tyler, Jace Tyler and Aria Tyler; Five Siblings: Carolyn King and Bartrena Allen who preceded him in death, and Mildred Parnell, Faye Moody (John) and Excell Feazell Jr.; and a host of family, and friends.
