Luz G. Macalalag was born and raised in the Philippines where she was the youngest of 15 children. Luz studied in San Juan de Dios School of Nursing. Upon completing her studies, she went to Canada and worked there for several years. Luz then moved to the United States in 1965. She worked in Vanderbilt University Hospital in Tennessee, then moved to Chicago, Illinois. Luz worked in Oak Park Hospital and then went onto Hines VA Hospital. She worked at Hines VA for 18 years where she eventually retired. Luz was a longtime Eucharistic minister of St. Domitilla Parish where she served for many years. Luz is survived by her niece Lourdes (Tomas) Daguinsin; grandaunt to Ramon (Sonya), Ferdinand (Karen), & Thomas (Janice); great-grandaunt to Andrew, Hannah, John, Isabella, Christopher, & Jaymee; dear friend to many.
