PROMOTED TO GLORY

Major Hugo D. Faundez Major Hugo Faundez was promoted to glory at this house in Berwyn, IL on Tuesday, September 28 th , 2021 . Major Hugo was born in the city of Antofagasta in the country of Chile. He received Jesus as a personal Saviour during an open air. Hugo and his mother Luisa Severino Faundez were faithful soldiers at the Antofagasta #1 Corps. His skills as a builder, electrician were used greatly by God during his life. He built a house for his mother and father where he enjoyed the fellowship of his extended family including his sister, nephews and nieces. He answered the call to officership and entered the School for Officers Training and was commissioned in 1955 as part of the "Soul Winners" session in Santiago, Chile. As s single officer he served in various appointments including the La Paz (Bolivia), Osorno, Puerto Montt where he pioneered the Salvation Army work, Temuco, Valdivia and Lo Vial. During a visit to Territorial Headquarters, he met a beautiful blond American officer, Captain Ardena Faundez, who was serving as the Territorial Commander's Secretary. Captain Ardena turned the power off in her apartment to secure a visit from Captain Faundez who used his skills to address her need. They were married on April 4th, 1970 at the Central Corps in Santiago, Chile. Two years later, they adopted their children Daniel & Beverly Faundez (Barron). Together their ministry adventure spanned various appointments from Children's Homes, ARC Ministry, THQ (Property Secretary) and Director of Social Services in Santiago. In 1990, the Faundez family transferred from their beloved country to the Central Territory USA where they were appointed to the Metropolitan Division to establish the Hispanic ministry at the Lawn Corps. Hugo's greatest joy, along with his wife's, was to partake of the establishment of Hispanic ministry growth and the deep fellowship with soldiers and officers. Along with other heroes of the faith: Majors Herb & Yaneth Fuqua, Majors Richard & Judy Forney, Majors Carlos & Mercedes Bravo- Major Hugo cherished being used by God in this country. Major Hugo and Adena retired in June, 1993 and remained active in ministry providing leadership and help to Hispanic Corps in the Metropolitan Division.

Major Hugo is preceded in death by his wife, Major Caroline Ardena Faundez, his mother Luisa Faundez (Severino), father Juan Faundez, his brother Enrique and his sister Maria Aran. Hugo is survived by his children, Major Daniel Faundez, Beverly Faundez , his grandchildren, Adrian, Christian, Nayeli, Marcos, Jonathan, Joshua & Angela.

Lying-in-State Saturday October 2, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of Service 11:00 am at The Salvation Army Templo-Laramie, 2337 South Laramie Avenue, Cicero, IL 60804. Interment Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Funeral Info: 800-562-0082
