Maria Shawnta Coleman was born on August 16th 1967 to the parents of Romel Coleman Sr.  and the late Allie Mae Coleman in Maywood, Illinois.

Maria spent the  majority of her life in Maywood, Illinois where she attended Emerson elementary School and Proviso East Highschool. While at Proviso East she met Donald Henderson and on September 12, 1984 they would have their first child. Maria continued to pursue an education in the health field and worked at several hospitals and nursing homes. Later in life Maria went back to college where she would earn her bachelor's degree. Maria found her true calling when began to work at PAEC for over a decade.

Maria gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of broadview Baptist Church in broadview, Illinois.

Maria loved working with children and was content in her role as a mother and provider. Maria had many interests. She was an excellent cook. She loved all types of music, but the 1990's R&B was her favorite.  Maria also love to play the game known as Spades with her family. Maria was a very kind hearted soul, she was known to help out anybody she could and became a mother figure for many youths within her community. Maria loved her family unconditionally and always taught her children the importance of family. Maria had a heart of gold and the spirit of a lion.

Maria will be truly missed; but most importantly, Maria will be remembered for her kind soul and willingness to help others.

One brother, Reginald Coleman preceded her in death and her mother Allie May Coleman preceded her as well.

Maria leaves to cherish her memory, her father Romel Coleman Sr.(Fay); her brother Romel Coleman (Sharon); four children Demitrios, Tashawn (Roxanne) Edwards, Donald, and Domonique Coleman, eight grandchildren Shaniya, Jayshawn, Gavin, Maverick, Asia, Mya, Nylo, Nayeli and a host of other relatives and friends who she loved dearly.
