MICHAEL JOSEPH SMITH , 67 of Beach Park , Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Beloved son of the late John J. Smith and Blanche Byrne Smith. Devoted brother of Joan Bayer (Dave deceased), Donald Smith-deceased (Sharon), Dennis Smith (Maureen), Dick Smith - deceased (Nancy), Dan Smith (Susan), and Maureen Freeman - deceased (Tom).
Loving Uncle of Elaine Janicki, Terri Ward and Tim, Jim, David, Judy & Matt Bayer, Mark & Brad Smith, Kathy Thomas and Kevin, Dennis (deceased) & Bryan Smith, Brian Smith & Carrie Edens, Kimberly Tegel and Colleen & Sean Freeman.
He will be remembered dearly by 39 Great nieces & nephews, 10 very close cousins, many dear and long-term friends and several surrogate families including the Nierzwicki family who loved him as their own.
Mike was loved by all and remembered for his great laugh, smile and wonderful conversations. Family gatherings and time with friends were so very important to him!!!! He was an armchair quarterback for all Chicago sports but especially the White Sox & Bears. He was a great little league baseball player at Horner Park, alter boy, boy scout, bowler, golfer and an avid Grateful Dead fan!!!!
Mike was a graduate of St Patrick's High School in Chicago where he performed in several plays and Lewis University with a degree in Political Science. He was a former employee of Paramont Electric Supply and Peer Chain where he loved his role in both sales and sales support.
All are welcomed to a viewing/visitation and funeral mass on Monday January 17th at Divine Providence Catholic Church at 2550 Mayfair Ave. Westchester Ill. The visitation will begin at 9:30am and the funeral mass will take place at 10:30am. To join the funeral mass virtually.

Mikes final resting will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside Ill. A small internment gathering will be held at the cemetery Tuesday January 18th at 10am.
Due to weather and Covid Mike's Celebration of Life will take place in late spring. ALL will also be welcomed to this true "Smitty Style" Celebration – more information on this will follow in the next month.
