Pacita Edrial
Flores

Pacita Edrial Flores August 3, 1930- October 6, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pacita “Mommy/Gramma” Edrial Flores. She was the heart of our family — our loving matriarch, a kind and selfless soul, and the first in our family to come to the United States to create better opportunities for everyone she loved. She helped so many people and touched countless lives with her warmth and generosity.
A graduate of Silliman University, Pacita Flores had demonstrated in her life that excellence is also a matter of heart. After graduating from the College of Nursing at Silliman University in 1955, she worked in Silliman Medical Center then immigrated to the United States in 1968. She went on to become an in-service training instructor for Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago where she implemented a successful training program for foreign nurses in the United States. Later, she completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing in 1977. Her nursing and management skills paved the way for the establishment of a surgery program in Cook County Hospital. She retired as a nurse supervisor from Cook County Hospital in 1993. She was then awarded the Outstanding Sillimanian Award in 2002. These accomplishments are some of the things she took pride in.
Pacita has joined her beloved husband Federico Flores as well as her siblings (Victoriano, Josefina, Aurelia, Remedios, Elsie, Juanito, Gabriela, Marina, and Patrocinio) She is survived by her only son Frederick Flores & his wife Joyce Flores, granddaughters Samantha, Stefanie & her husband Jeffrey del Carmen & Shannon as well as her great-grandchildren Sunny and JJ del Carmen. Her memories will live in forever in our hearts. We love and miss you Mommy/Gramma.
