Paula Sue Garrett (Goodson) was born January 10, 1953 in Chicago, IL to the late Doletta & Richard Garrett Sr.

Paula attended Schiller & Manierre Elementary Schools and Waller High School on the Near North side of Chicago where she lived and met the love of her life and future husband Elmoore Goodson in 1970. They recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary this past year in April 2020. They would go on to raise four children Judith Eileen, Lola Marie, Jermaine and Maurice. She had a special love for her four grandchildren (Jessica Latrice Bowdry, Jazmin Marie Bowdry, Patrick Darius Spears and Kenneth Goodson) and one great-grandchild (Tristan Jacob Wiggins).

Paula worked various jobs throughout her life, the most memorable being at Eli's in Chicago where she was known for sending cheesecakes to family and loved ones during the holidays.

Paula had a love for music, flowers, movies and especially photos. Photography was a joyous outlet for Paula where she would create personal projects for friends and family. Paula was the matriarch that kept the family closely knitted through phone calls, gatherings and social media. Family was of the upmost importance to her.

Paula transitioned to be with the lord peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021.

Paula was the oldest of five children who all preceded her in death (Ricky Garrett, Edward Matthew Garrett, Sandra Kay Garrett, Ronell Alexander Garrett, Patricia Blevins and Loletta Harris). Paula leaves to cherish in her memory, loving husband Elmoore Goodson; two daughters; Judith Eileen Garrett (Cyprien), Lola Marie Garrett (Spears); two sons; Jermaine Goodson and Maurice Goodson. Five siblings; Richard Garrett Jr., Martha Brown, Beatrice Wines, Thomas Garrett, Leatrice Wilburn, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
