Philip
Coyne
March 12, 2023
Philip Anthony Coyne (86 yrs), born August 24, 1936, passed away peacefully in his home on March 12, 2023. Dearest son of Harold and Rose (nee Frank); brother of Mary Agnes (Richard) Zych, and the late Rose Ann (Jack) Lock; beloved husband to Jane (nee Raymond); loving father to Patrick (Tina), Maureen (Michael) Urbanski, Philip (Tamara), Eileen (Christopher) Rizzi; stepfather to Kevin (Therese), Todd (Roxanne) Kuhlmann; devoted Grandpa Fang to 13 and great-grandfather of three; fond uncle to several nieces and nephews, a cousin to many, and a friend of too many to count.
Phil was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from St. George High School and studied at Loyola University. He served in the U.S. Army (1956-1959) as a high-speed Morse code intercept operator stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Phil was an electrician and a proud IBEW l.u. 134 member (69 yrs)(retired).
He loved his work as an electrician, as he followed in his beloved father's footsteps. He was very proud his sons followed in the trade as well. Once retired, he and his wife, Jane, enjoyed life both in Wisconsin and Florida, where he was either fishing with family, golfing with friends, performing standup in his park, doing crosswords, watching spaghetti westerns, or meeting with friends and family for endless stories and jokes (tee-hee). He was never without his bottomless mug of coffee in his hand! He adored his Chicago Bears, White Sox, and whoever was playing the Cubs. Lastly, but not leastly, for the last 42 years, he was most committed to the program and the many, many others he helped find a better life. You know who you are...he loved every single one of you.
A memorial will be held April 1, 2023, at Hursen Funeral Home, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads, Hillside/Westchester 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
