Ricardo D.
Chalk
May 13, 2021
Ricardo Dwayne Chalk, son of the late LV Chalk and Ila Burch, was born on January
18, 1959 in Little Rock Arkansas. He was LV's eldest son and Ila's one and only
baby boy. He was raised on the westside of Chicago by his loving Mother and
Stepfather, Joseph A Burch.
As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many.
He was always '" johnny on the spot" to assist his family, friends, and strangers
alike with whatever they needed. Those who knew him best affectionately called
him "Popo". His children, grandchildren and great grandson were the apple of his
eye. He loved to get "suited and booted", as he called it, for a night on the town.
He loved to dance, and often won dance contests that he entered in the 70's and
early 80's. He was one of the smoothest "Steppers" in Chicago. He enjoyed life
and always had a comical story to tell.
After graduating from St. Michael's Catholic High School, he joined the Army and
faithful served his country for 3 years. He was a hard and dedicated worker. He
would go to work even when he was ill. He worked at Charles Levy in several
positions. Shipping and Receiving was his specialty. The last position he held was
lead shipping and receiving clerk at RTS Packaging in Hillside, Illinois.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He sang in Lena Hamlin AME
Church children's choir on the westside of Chicago and later served on the Usher
Board at JW James AME Church in Maywood, Il.
Ricardo departed this life on Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was preceded in death
by his Father, LV Chalk and his loving sister, Mia Renee Rice. His life will forever
be cherished by his loving parents, Ila (Bellwood, IL) and Joseph Burch (Las Vegas
NV); his children, Ricardo Bryant Sr, Derrick Williams, (both of Chicago, IL),
Shequita Chalk (Milwaukee, WI); His siblings, LaWanna Chalk and Joanna Chalk
(both of Bellwood, IL), and one brother, Michael Watkins (Kansas City MO); his
grandchildren, Ricardo Jr, Bryanna, Latoriana, Albert Jr. and Antonio Jr; his great
grandson, Ryan; his nieces and nephews, Shana, Sherrod, Tyler, Mila, Kyla,
