Obituary

Richard Edward "Rick" Iaccino Age 78, of Mount Prospect, IL February 20, 1947 – April 2, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Edward "Rick" Iaccino, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Susan Berg, and her children, Michael and Jennifer. He is also survived by his children: son Richard Paul Iaccino (Karen), grandson Gabriel, granddaughter Mackenzie, and daughter Rebecca Lynn Iaccino, as well as their mother, Theresa, his former wife. He was the dear brother of the late Gerald (Theresa), James (Susan), William (Susan), and Diane Bennett (Joseph), and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of Bellwood, Rick dedicated much of his life to coaching youth sports in the community. He was a proud graduate of St. Philips Basilica High School, class of 1965, and remained actively involved with the school's Alumni Association for many years.

Rick served in the United States Coast Guard from 1966 to 1970 and was stationed at various locations across the country. As his children grew, Rick's passion for coaching expanded, and he went on to coach high school and junior college sports.

Rick also worked as a part-time sportswriter for the Terre Haute Tribune and spent several years with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He later worked at the United States Postal Service and with the Illinois Lady Garment Workers Union.

Holding a bachelor's degree in political science, Rick remained politically active and engaged with various unions throughout his life. He also taught Computer Sciences through Mack Education.

Rick will be remembered as a loving family member, a kind-hearted man, and a dedicated coach. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. As we say goodbye to Rick, we find comfort in the knowledge that this will be the shortest goodbye we ever had with him. If goodbyes were an Olympic event, Rick would have won the Gold Medal for all time.

The visitation will be held on April 21, 2025, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at Hursen Funeral Home, located at 4001 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, IL (708-547-8200).
