Rita Skaidrite Legzdins, 90, born in Daugavpils, Latvia, a long time resident of Lombard, passed away peacefully September 12, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Alberts Legzdins for 53 years; loving mother of Alberts, Edgars and Mara (Eriks) Sventeckis; devoted omama of Rubite, Peteris and Martins; dear sister of the late Tamara (the late Nick) Galic, late Erika (the late Casey) Klich and Mirdza (the late Janis) Skapars; loving daughter of the late Fridrichs and Lidija Presse-Reisbergs.

She will be remembered by her unwavering love, caring and selflessness. Rita graduated from the University of Illinois and worked at Marshall Fields for over 25 years. Her passions were spending time with her family, volunteering as a Cub Scout leader, traveling, gardening, reading, participating in Latvian cultural events, singing and dancing. 

Visitation at the St. Peter's Latvian Lutheran Church, 450 Forest Preserve Dr., Wood Dale, IL on Sat., Sept. 26 from 10-11 am. Funeral mass at 11 am. Interment Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside.
