Obituary

Samuel Alonzo, Sr., born May 12th 1948, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dedicated community volunteer, passed away at the age of 76 on March 15th, 2025.

Samuel was the loving and devoted husband of Jamie, a cherished father to his son Sam and daughter Amber, and an adored father-in-law to John and Michelle. He was also the proud grandfather of Samantha, Frankie, and Asher, whose lives he enriched with his kindness and wisdom.

Samuel's generosity of spirit extended far beyond his family. He was known for being one of the kindest and most compassionate individuals anyone could meet. His genuine warmth and unwavering willingness to help others made him a beloved figure in his community.

Samuel volunteered his time at both Forest Park and Westmont, where he made a lasting impact through his selfless contributions.In everything he did, Samuel brought a sense of joy, love, and generosity that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched through his volunteer work and caring presence.

Samuel's family finds comfort in knowing that his love and spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories he leaves behind.

Visitation Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory, SW corner of Roosevelt & Mannheim Roads, Hillside. Prayers Friday at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Bernardine Church, Forest Park. Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Samuel's kindness, compassion, and love will never be forgotten, and he will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
