Obituary

Therese “Terre” Dunlap, of Westchester, formerly of Cicero and Chicago, passed away May 13, 2026 at the age of 87.

Terre was born and raised in the South Lawndale community of Chicago with her parents Stanley & Florence, sister Phyllis and younger brother Norbert Borowski.

Terre married Bob Oesterreich in 1957. Their union brought two daughters Cindy and Sandi. The young family moved to Cicero, Illinois. After divorcing, Terre started working at Western Acadia to support her daughters. She retired from Western Acadia at the age of 62 with 28 years of service. During her time in Cicero, Terre was a very active member of St Francis of Rome Catholic Church. She taught CCD and helped organize their church carnivals.

Terre met Kevin Dunlap at Western Acadia. After many years of dating, they married in December 1987. Not only did she gain a husband but also a daughter Jennifer from Kevin’s previous marriage. She embraced her as her own.

Terre was constantly busy with family and friends. She enjoyed singing, bowling, playing cards and planning trips with everyone. Discovering places to shop was a passion. During quiet times, she was an avid reader and gardener. She showed her family and friends how much she cared for them through home cooked meals and baking wonderful desserts. She was a pillar of love and support for everyone in her life. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren above all else.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Dunlap; daughters Cindy Digweed, Sandi (Pat) McManus and Jennifer (Vince) Dunlap-Burns; grandchildren Joshua (Allison) & Amanda Digweed, Dan (Emily) McManus, Jacob Digweed, Erin McManus and Vincent (Casey) Burns; great grandchildren Jordan Digweed, Elizabeth Burns and Chase McManus; sister-in-law Claudia Borowski, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Florence (nee Kurcz) Borowski, sister Phyllis McKee, brother Norbert Borowski and brother-in-law Kenneth McKee.
