Obituary

Joseph Michael Harris was born to Eunice B. and Joseph W. Harris on October 27,1954 in Nuremberg, Germany. Joseph graduated from Chicago*s Morgan Park High School in June of 1972.

Joseph was baptized early in life at LeClaire Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. His belief and trust in God was reaffirmed before he passed away.

Lovingly known to us as Michael, he was married twice in life. Michael*s first marriage was to Renae Harris of Chicago, Illinois and his second marriage was to Debra Harris of Hollywood, California.

Michael was the proud father of daughters, Tamara Jackson McGee of Chicago, Illinois and Chanell D. Walker of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and son Joseph M. Webb of Chicago, Illinois.

Michael was employed at the Bulk Mail Center in Forest Park, Illinois. He worked at BMC for more than thirty years until he was forced to retire early due to concerns about the workplace environment. Any task Michael faced, excellence would be his goal. It was not long before he was promoted to a supervisor position within the BMC, becoming one of the youngest to achieve the position.

Michael traveled the world taking overseas trips by planes and cruise liners. Michael was a man of many talents. As a bowler for the USPS team, he maintained an average over 200. A lover of basketball from a very young age, he would wake up and practice for hours to hone and improve upon his ability, because of his dedication to the game. Michael was a legend among the players at the Brainerd Park court on Chicago*s Southside.

Michael was preceded in death by parents Eunice B. and Joseph W. Harris, brother Eldon M. Harris and sister Jacqueline Harris Gullette.

He is survived by his brother John S. (Carliss) Harris of Bolingbrook, Illinois, sister Jeane M. Harris of Chicago, Illinois, aunt Myrtus B. Henry of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Michael*s cousin who he considered a brother Stephen G. Henry of Little Rock, Arkansas. Michael also has nine nieces and nephews and eight great-nephews and nieces.
